Gerald Lovell’s artworks are textured and painterly while also capturing the casual intimacy of a photographic snap. As a self-taught artist, he uses his artistic practice as a means of self-discovery and self-articulation. His work is quickly gaining attention across the US, making him one of the most promising young artists from Atlanta. Lovell’s work is often “an act of biography.” Each work is imbued with a personal feel in which subjects appear to be friends or family, often caught in tender moments and totally at ease in the artist’s presence.
